Can I sell services using WooCommerce?
July 14, 2016
You can obviously sell all kinds of products and services with WooCommerce.
Unlike traditional shopping carts, WooCommerce does a whole lot more than sell physical products. You can use WooCommerce to sell anything from your website.
Consultants and professionals can use it to sell their services online.
You don’t even need a special extension to sell your services with WooCommerce. WooCommerce plugin supports virtual products out of the box.
When you create a product or service, you will see that the page looks very similar to creating a post in WordPress. But this is what is called a custom post type, so it has additional options.
Simple Product – this is a single physical product that has no variations.
Simple Product Virtual – an example of this would be a service, such as hourly consulting.
Obviously, if you choose virtual for your Simple Product, you will no longer have the shipping option.
You can add Product Name, Product Short Description and other settings, disable the inventory and stock management for the product.
With the WooCommerce Bookings extension, you can take things to the next level by letting your customers book specific blocks of time.
This can also be used to reserve and charge for time-based resources (for example: studio time, personal trainers, yoga lessons, or any resource that requires booking in advance).
This could be great for service businesses that have offerings like installations, coaching, appointments (i.e., hair salons), and other products that require set time commitments.
If you offered subscription-based products – you can create and manage products with recurring payments — payments that will give you residual revenue you can track and count on.
WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin offers multiple billing schedules available to suit your needs.
Have a nice day. More hacks are coming ;)
